3 x cinnamon sticks

6 x cloves

3 x star anise

6 x cardamom pods - crushed

1/3 x teaspoon of finely ground nutmeg

6 x thin slices of fresh ginger

1 ½ x teaspoons of vanilla extract

*For amazing flavor, I recommend LOVEz South India Monsoon Malabar or Ethiopian Yirgacheffe.

 To Make

  1. Pour the 4 cups of water into a pitcher. Add the ground coffee and stir.
  2. Preheat saucepan to medium.
  3. Add the cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and the star anise.
  4. Carefully toast the spices for 2 to 3 minutes. It won’t take long to roast them.
  5. When roasted, add the premixed coffee.
  6. Add the nutmeg, ginger, vanilla to the saucepan and stir.
  7. Cook for about 5-8 minutes.
  8. Turn the stove off and allow the mixture cool.
  9. Once cool, pour into the pitcher, cover and store in the fridge for 24 hours.
  10. Strain cold brew while making sure not to disturb the coffee grounds on the bottom.
