The Empty Chair
A Coffee and Connection story in eight short chapters
Every Thursday morning, a 75-year-old man named Samir makes coffee in the back room of a small barbershop. Nobody else touches the pot. One morning he lets it burn, and three men who have shared that shop for years finally start talking.
The Empty Chair follows a Lebanese refugee who learned to roast coffee in Beirut, an Iraqi barber who has watched two barbershops come apart in two wars, and a longtime regular who has never had to leave anywhere. They find out they've been standing in the same room all along.
Each chapter takes about two minutes to read. A new one arrives every Sunday at 6 PM.
A work of fiction inspired by true history. All characters are invented; the historical setting is real.
